Major Mechanical is an HVAC and plumbing contractor that has been in business for over 30 years. We specialize in multi-family new construction, and have growing commercial and service divisions. We are currently looking to fill the role of Plumbing Project Manager/Estimator. Commercial and industrial solutions projects are an integral part of Major Mechanical's C&I Solutions team. Your skills in the piping industry are needed for the estimation, oversight, profitability, and customer satisfaction of each project. The plumbing project manager/estimator oversees all aspects of the project from estimation to project completion and turnover. The person in this role should possess the ability to simultaneously estimate, secure, and manage multiple projects ranging in valuations from $25K to over $2,000,000.

Essential Duties:

  • Identifies opportunities for new commercial and industrial plumbing projects through owners, engineers, and general contractors
  • Internal and external networking to pursue such opportunities, in collaboration with the General Manager
  • Completes detailed estimates for work to be performed through the process of design build or plans and specifications by engineer/architect
  • Responsible for project kick-off and on-going project items including purchasing, procurement, subcontracts, submittals, and project schedules
  • Monitors projects to ensure all projects are built safely, on schedule, within budget, and up to Major Mechanical's high quality standards
  • Establishes project objectives, procedures, and performance metrics
  • Responsible for profit management of estimated or assigned projects
  • Builds new relationships and fosters existing relationships with project team, clients, vendors, and subcontractors with the goal of securing new projects
  • Manages subcontractor proposal requests, scope reviews, and the issuing of subcontractors
  • Responsible for establishing and monitoring schedule of field and subcontractor progress
  • Actively participates in our safety-first culture
  • Coordinates all job correspondence
  • Responsible for fostering the professional development of self, team members, and support staff through education, development, and continuous feedback

Management Responsibilities

  • Direct oversight and management of field staff
  • Manages subcontractors performance

Key Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the plumbing industry
  • Minimum 2 years of plumbing estimation
  • Project management for a variety of projects in commercial and industrial environments in the mechanical construction industry
  • Passion for plumbing industry
  • In-depth knowledge of plumbing systems
  • Thorough knowledge of mechanical construction industry practices, processes, and standards - including systems design, installation
  • Ability to motivate others for successful project completion
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Financial acumen necessary to manage project budget/performance
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office suite required
  • Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict management skills

Education

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management preferred but not required
  • Field experience with relative estimation and project leadership

Physical and/or Travel Demands

  • Daily driving to project sites as required
  • Overnight travel is possible but rare
  • Physical demands to include walking on uneven surfaces, climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds

We are currently looking to fill the role of Project Manager in our multi-family division. In this role you will work closely with senior project managers to help them with day to day activities that come with running large construction projects. You will gain valuable experience for your own growth path to success. 

Essential Duties

  • Oversee all aspects of plumbing and HVAC construction from groundwork, rough-in, finishing, and closeout
  • Maintain contact with vendors and subcontractors regarding project documentation such as submittals, change orders, RFI's, Operation & Maintenance Manuals, etc.
  • Properly process, submit, and file change orders
  • Properly perform quantity take offs for estimates
  • Respond to vendors and customers via email or phone calls in a timely manner

Job Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience in a similar project managing role
  • Experience with both plumbing and HVAC
  • Must be able to prioritize work and communicate effectively at all levels
  • Basic computer skills and thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience in CAD or Revit is a plus but not required
  • Experience in a construction environment a plus
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Positive attitude
  • Clean driving record

We are looking for a talented leader who will not only deliver exceptional service for our customers but also utilize their expert knowledge of the commercial HVAC and plumbing industry to drive revenue and organizational growth.

The service manager will be an individual who is high energy, has a strong business and financial acumen, a dedication to customer service, and a desire to build and lead an established team of quality technicians. The ideal candidate should be competitive and outgoing and possess a creative selling mindset. 

As the service manager you will be responsible for driving business development, profit and loss accountability, training, and customer service for a multi-million dollar HVAC and plumbing operation. This position will directly supervise our team of service technicians and perform other various division operations. 

Key Qualifications

  • Strong leadership and communication skills at all levels of the organization
  • 5 years of prior experience working as an HVAC technician or previous service management experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of HVAC service techniques
  • Experience in service estimating and preventative maintenance
  • Computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening
  • Valid drivers license and clean driving record
